Link Logistics CEO Luke J. Petherbridge joined the global conversation on sustainability at The Economist’s 10th Anniversary Sustainability Week in London, held March 10-12, 2025. The event brought together 2,500 senior decision-makers from organizations worldwide to galvanize rapid action on sustainability.
During a fireside chat on enhancing the sustainability of last-mile logistics, Petherbridge spoke with Vijay Vaitheeswaran, global energy & climate innovation editor at The Economist. Petherbridge outlined how the firm’s value-oriented and data-driven approach to sustainability lowers costs for its customers while advancing decarbonization.
“We see the challenge of reducing our energy consumption as a real opportunity that we can invest around,” he said. “Additionally, we see everything that we’re doing in terms of sustainability as a benefit to our customers.”
Petherbridge highlighted specific actions Link Logistics is taking to drive sustainability across its platform, explaining that “one of the things we’ve been very focused on is measuring our output and then reducing it.” A key example he cited is the firm’s national LED program, which upgrades warehouse lighting across its 500 million square foot portfolio. These retrofits help reduce customers’ utility bills.
Looking ahead, Petherbridge emphasized Link Logistics’ commitment to continue pioneering industry-leading sustainability solutions.
“It is on us at Link Logistics to continue to find innovative opportunities to enhance the sustainable features of our buildings so that we can support our customers in meeting their climate objectives and energy needs,” he said.
